Obituary

Royal A. Blais, 89, of Pembroke, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the CRVNA Hospice House in Concord. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts he was the son of the late Albert and Blanche (Boudria) Blais. After having proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II, Royal worked for the Boston & Maine Railroad in his younger years, where he earned his ride to attend classes at the Boston Conservatory. He was an extremely talented trumpet player who enjoyed playing with many bands during his lifetime such as the Bob Hall Band, Sunny D Band, the Nevers Band, Alumni Band of the NH National Guard and the Epsom Band, to name a few. Mr. Blais also worked in as a Carpenter. He was employed by Roger Guay Construction and later by Davison Construction. Besides his parents Royal was predeceased by his brother Normand A. "Bosco" Blais in 2011. He is survived by his wife Dorothy (Rondeau) Blais of Pembroke; his son, James Blais and his wife Rachel of Chesterfield, VA; his daughters, Jacqueline Bodi and her husband Dale of Hampton, NH, Jocelyn Carlucci and her husband Dana of Suncook, NH, Jill Drouin and her husband Paul of Pembroke, NH; sisters, Constance Perron, Joan Bussiere, Joyce Belanger and her husband Gerald; brother, Melvin Blais; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Petit-Roan Funeral Home, 167 Main Street in Pembroke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 21st at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Church, Allenstown. Interment will take place in the spring.
