M. John Zachodny, Jr Obituary (1946 - 2009)

M. John Zachodny, Jr. 62, of Adams Street, died Thursday, January 22, 2009, at the Concord Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, PA on September 19, 1946, John was the son of M. John Zachodny, Sr. and Barbara (Renski) Zachodny, both of Hatboro, PA. He had been an Allenstown resident for more than 35 years before moving to Epsom. Mr. Zachodny had been employed as a sales representative for Samsonite. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Viet Nam Conflict, earning the rank of sergeant. He was a member and past Commander of the John J. Maguire American Legion Post #28 of Suncook and had also served as Adjutant for the Department of NH American Legion from 1999 to 2008. John was an active member of the community, serving as President of the Suncook Little League, working with the Boy Scouts, and coaching American Legion Baseball. In addition to his parents, John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia Lee (Strickler) Zachodny of Epsom; a daughter, Kimberley LaFleur of Allenstown; 2 sons, M. John Zachodny, III of Sarasota, FL and Michael Zachodny of Concord; 6 grandchildren, Bryant, Coleby, Alexys, Nolyn, Hayden, and Noah; one great grandchild; a sister, Barbara Geissler of Warminster, PA; and nieces and nephews. Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorial donations should be made to the NH Veterans Home Benefit Fund, 139 Winter Street, Tilton, NH 03276. Visitation: Friends and relatives may call on Thursday evening from 5-8 PM at the Still Oaks Funeral & Memorial Home, 1217 Suncook Valley Hwy., Epsom. Service: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown with burial following at noon at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
