Richard A. Gordon Obituary (1926 - 2009)

Mr. Richard A. Gordon, 83, of Old Coach Road, died Sunday, September 27, 2009, at the Epsom Health Care Center. Born in Groveland, MA on January 7, 1926, Mr. Gordon was the son of Charles and Esther (Brockelbank) Gordon. Having spent most of his life in Groveland, Mr. Gordon had been a resident of Salisbury for 20 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, served in Europe, and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. After his discharge from the service, Mr. Gordon attended the Massachusetts Institute of Trade, where he specialized in watch making. He worked 25 years for Kinney Jewelers and 15 years for Hunkins Jewelers. He was a member of the Masons, the American Legion, and the Disabled American Veterans. He loved animals and cars. He especially enjoyed Thunderbirds, which he collected, but also enjoyed tinkering with any car in general. Members of his family include his wife of 60 years, Janet (Paquin) Gordon of Salisbury; a daughter, Jean and her husband Craig Wyatt of Chichester; a son, Bruce Gordon and his wife Andrea of Plainfield; 2 grandchildren, Grant and Rachel; a sister, Marilyn Kent of Groveland, MA; and nieces and nephews. Service: Friends and relatives are invited to gather at Still Oaks Funeral & Memorial Home, 1217 Suncook Valley Hwy. in Epsom on Friday from noon until the service at 12:45 PM. Committal with military honors will follow at 2 PM at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
